Percussion Therapy
in Dallas, TX

Rapid percussive pulses that warm and loosen overworked muscle — often right before rehab, so your body can move freely into the range you’re about to train.

What it is

Preparing muscle to move — not just pounding it

You’ve probably seen a massage gun. What you may not have seen is one used the way it’s actually most effective: applied by a provider who knows from your exam exactly which tissue is overworked, guarding, or restricting the movement you’re trying to rebuild — and at what depth, angle, and duration that tissue responds.

Percussion therapy delivers rapid mechanical pulses into muscle, boosting local circulation and easing the protective tension that keeps tight tissue tight. Warmed, loosened muscle moves further and trains better — which is why at TRUForm we most often use percussion immediately before rehab, priming the exact areas your program is about to load.

It’s one of the smaller tools in the system — but sequenced correctly, it’s the difference between fighting your own muscle guarding through a rehab session and moving freely through it.

Where it helps

Commonly used for

Overworked, guarded muscle

Tissue that’s tightened protectively and won’t let go on its own.

Pre-rehab preparation

Priming the exact muscles your program is about to train, so range comes easier.

Post-exercise soreness

Easing the heavy, stiff feeling after hard training or physical work.

Circulation & recovery

Rapid pulses drive local blood flow into tissue that needs it.

Desk-tight shoulders & hips

The chronically switched-on muscles of long sitting days.

Athletes between sessions

Keeping training-stressed tissue supple and ready for the next load.

Whether this fits your case is decided at your evaluation — every plan is built from your exam, not a menu. Individual results vary.

What to expect

How it fits into your visit

1 · Target

Your provider selects the specific muscles that your exam — and today’s plan — say need it, not a generic once-over.

2 · Treat

Rapid percussive pulses at the right depth and intensity for the tissue. It feels like a strong, rhythmic massage — most patients find it genuinely pleasant.

3 · Train

Straight into movement while the tissue is warm and free — usually flowing directly into your rehab exercises so the new ease gets put to work.

Questions

Percussion therapy FAQs

I own a massage gun. Isn’t this the same thing?

Same tool family, different job. At home you’re guessing where to aim and how long to stay; here the targeting comes from your exam, the technique from training, and the timing from your plan — applied to the exact tissue that’s limiting the movement you’re about to train. Keep using yours at home; we’ll show you where it actually helps.

Does it hurt?

No — it’s one of the most comfortable things we do. You’ll feel a strong, rhythmic pulsing that most patients describe as a deeply satisfying massage. Intensity is adjusted to the tissue and to you.

Is percussion a treatment on its own?

Rarely — and we’re honest about that. Percussion prepares tissue; it doesn’t correct the pattern that made the tissue overwork in the first place. That’s why it lives inside your plan, sequenced before rehab and alongside adjustments and soft-tissue care, rather than sold as a standalone fix.

When is it not the right tool?

Acutely injured, inflamed, or sensitive areas call for different care, and some conditions rule it out locally — your provider screens for that. It’s a preparation tool for muscle, used where your exam says muscle preparation is what’s needed. Individual results vary.
